Palestinian Embroidery workshop with Filistia Tatreez - 12/6/2026
This month, ElAshry Studios has the honor of welcoming Filistia Tatreez, who has traveled all the way from Ramallah, Palestine, to Cairo to share the timeless art of Palestinian embroidery (Tatreez) with us.
More than just stitches on fabric, Tatreez carries stories of identity, resilience, and heritage. Each motif holds meaning: a visual language passed down through generations, preserving culture, memory, and tradition through thread and needle.
In this intimate four-hour workshop, participants will be introduced to the rich history and symbolism behind traditional Palestinian embroidery patterns. Through guided instruction, you'll learn foundational embroidery techniques while exploring the stories and meanings woven into each design.
By the end of the session, you’ll create your own embroidered pattern on a piece of clothing of your choice, taking home a personal piece that combines craft, culture, and storytelling.
Join us for this rare opportunity to learn, connect, and experience a living tradition that continues to be passed from one generation to the next.
